START YOUR FITNESS JOURNEY WITH PERSONAL TRAINING
For many people, it can be overwhelming deciding to start exercising regularly. Some of the common questions we hear from brand new clients at WhittleStrength range from: “What type of exercise should I do? How many days a week should I train? How many sets and reps should I complete if I want to lose body fat? I have reoccurring lower back pain, what does a proper warm-up look like for me?” In our opinion, the best solution to these questions is personal training! Working with a high end and knowledgable personal trainer has so many benefits and will always be superior to other methods such as joining a boot camp class or watching YouTube videos online.
Here are just a few reasons why we recommend starting your fitness journey with high end personal training:
We Have the Power to Educate: We educate our clients on all aspects of health, not just on fitness. We educate the importance of exercise, nutrition, supplementation, sleep, and recovery. We can provide scientific explanations to the questions you have. For example, how hormones affect your weight fluctuations or the physiological importance of protein in the diet.
We Spent Years Learning How to Perfect Form and Technique: Rather than relying on a YouTube video on how to barbell back squat, a personal trainer can provide a step-by-step approach to any exercise. We can not only teach you and demo how to perform a specific lift, we can also give you feedback and cues during the workout to help fix your form with each rep. Having someone physically watch your form is important for reducing your risk of injury. Having a personal trainer to also properly spot you is crucial for your safety.
We Can Cater to Your Personal Needs: Everyone has different strengths and weaknesses. Having a personal trainer who can cater to your specific needs/goals is ideal. Say you come to us with a prior knee injury, we have the skill set to improve the integrity of the knee as well as modify where we see necessary. This will ensure you make progress on your injury, but also allows you to train without limiting other areas on the body. Or say you are a marathon runner looking to change your fitness goals and put on muscle size. We can tailor a program for you based on your current fitness level that will help you achieve your hypertrophy goals. Lastly, say you come to us with no goals in mind. We can put you through our fitness assessment to identify your strengths and weaknesses. From here, we can then provide you with a structured plan, designed to improve your weaknesses and correct muscle imbalances.
We Can Help You Set Long-Term Goals: Many people expect to reach their goals right away, and set unrealistic expectations of themselves. Having a personal trainer can help guide you through setting realistic goals. A personal trainer will also be by your side to motivate and encourage you to fulfill your goals.
We Can Help Reinforce Healthy Habits: Developing healthy habits does not happen overnight. An educated personal trainer will have the skill set and tools to help you stay on track, set daily goals, and help you break those bad habits. For example, a personal trainer might stay on you about eating enough protein, hitting your daily step count for the day, or upping your water intake.
We Keep You Accountable: Here at WhittleStrength, part of our motto is accountability. It is our mission to help change people’s lives, making them the best version of themselves. With that said, we make it a priority to keep you accountable and on track with your fitness goals. To add, having a personal trainer who you schedule an appointment with is one easy way to increase the likelihood of you following through with exercising that day.
We Can Add in Nutritional Guidance: One thing that sets us apart from a regular gym setting is that we have a diverse knowledge in nutrition as it relates to performance, hormones, wellness, injury, and even disease state. We can properly educate you on how to optimize your diet around your training goals and schedule, lifestyle, diet restrictions (i.e. vegan, allergic to peanuts, or doctor told you to limit sodium intake), and health status (i.e. recently diagnosed with type II diabetes, osteoporosis, or just started menopause). For example, someone recently diagnosed with type II diabetes should limit processed foods, trans fat, and high sugary snacks that will severely spike insulin levels.
We Can Accommodate Your Busy Schedule: Rather than committing to a yoga class or boot camp class that only fits your schedule Saturday at 10am, a personal trainer is versatile and flexible when it comes to scheduling. We understand that people will have varying availability, things will change, unexpected events take place, and therefore appointments will need to be moved around.
